balance
My exams is 3weeks away, and I’m NOT getting enough blog-guilt. I need more blog-guilt!
I need to READ LESS BLOGS and MORE NOTES! LOTS MORE!!
Depicted in the graph below is the inverse relationship between blog-guilt and study-guilt.
Blog-guilt “vs” Study-guilt
Two main assumptions to the model are:
1. I do nothing but study and read blogs all day.
2. Time is a scarce constraint.
As it would seems obvious by now, im at pt A: blog-guilt very low, study-guilt OVER THE ROOF, which is definitely not good, as my exams are 3 WEEKS AWAY DAMMIT!!
As such, in the short-run, my objective is to move north-west up the blue line, hour by hour, day by day, for the next 3 weeks, to pt C. By then, the time constraint would be so overwhelming, the model will not hold for the subsequent 2 weeks when i write my exams. Finger crossed.
And of course, pt C is not where you want to be under normal circumstances, because blogs withdrawal sympton would prove counter productive.
This is where the utility curve(economics gibberish) at pt B comes in. In general, we would want to be at pt B; the utility maximising point. That is, the point where one would derive the most satisfaction out of the optimal mix of blog-guilt and study-guilt/work-guilt. Thus, in the long run, my objective is to find that optimal mix and sit happily at pt B.
But of course, in the real world, we will have to relax assumption 1. we have our life outside blogs and work. Thus everyone has a unique utility curve and different combination of optimal mix of more than the two stated variables. A lot more indeed. Which makes things extremely complicated. As such pt B is very difficult and complex to determine. Where is my pt B?!?!
Heck! need to get offline, and get to pt C first.

ah...
i'm facing the same problem too. and my exams are in about 2+ weeks. looking at the utility curves and such, it makes me wonder if we are studying for the same exam. heh.
yes, the date looks highly suspicious. i suppose you will be sitting in one of the freezing halls in Expo, writing your exams?
yesh. which is more than an hour away, via train. can't understand why can't they let us do it in school. (not much of a diff, cos i travel for about an hour to school)
